Razing Dawn
So... my husband fired me today. Apparently, the church is making budget cuts and the REAL secretary wasn't as expendable as me. This was just the icing on the cake of a 'fabulous' year! From my constant hair drama, to my inability to successfully bake a cake, I had decided to label 2010 "The Year of the Dis!"
As I was doing my yearly reflection, it came to my mind the way I raise my children. It is my greatest desire to be sure they have all the things they need and much of what they want. However, in doing this, often they have to be disciplined and extended the rod of correction. This is sometimes shown in the form of 'tough love.' The raising of a child can sometimes SEEM like a tearing down, but in reality it is only a pruning.
In John 15:1,2 Jesus is called the true vine. He makes it clear that he removes the branches that do not bear fruit, but he prunes those that do so that they can bear more fruit.
So don't be discouraged when you feel 'dissed' by strangers, friends, or loved ones. Things are not always as they seem. Learn from each situation and grow as a result. Remember the True Vine and His great plan for you to bear more fruit. You are not being razed, but raised.
